Statistics Pane \u2192<\/a><\/span><\/div>\n<div id=\"dbimpcontent\">\n<h2 class=\"title\">Markers<\/h2>\n<div class=\"callout callout-alert\">\n<p>Markers are only available in <span class=\"italic\">VoceVista Video Pro<\/span>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Markers allow you to set bookmarks in files, and to add descriptions to them. This allows you to manage large collections of recordings and to find parts of interest again. Each section has been marked and labeled with a marker. The <span class=\"quote\">\u201c<span class=\"quote\">File and Marker View<\/span>\u201d<\/span> on the right shows a list of all markers and can be used as a summary and a table of contents of the file.<\/p>\n<div class=\"section\">\n<div class=\"titlepage\">\n<div>\n<div>\n<h3 class=\"title\">\n<a name=\"id-1.6.3.10.6\"><\/a>Marker Types<\/h3>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"section\">\n<div class=\"titlepage\">\n<div>\n<div>\n<h4 class=\"title\">\n<a name=\"id-1.6.3.10.6.2\"><\/a><span class=\"inlinemediaobject\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/images\/en\/markers\/DefaultMarkerIcon.png\"><\/span> File Description<\/h4>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>The File Description is a special type of marker that is automatically added to every file. You can use it to add information that applies to the whole file, such as where it was recorded, when, and with whom. The File Description marker is always the first entry in the marker list of a file, and it has the <span class=\"inlinemediaobject\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/images\/en\/markers\/DefaultMarkerIcon.png\"><\/span> icon.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"section\">\n<div class=\"titlepage\">\n<div>\n<div>\n<h4 class=\"title\">\n<a name=\"id-1.6.3.10.6.3\"><\/a><span class=\"inlinemediaobject\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/images\/en\/markers\/AutoMarkerIcon.png\"><\/span> Auto Markers<\/h4>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Every time you press record, record for a while, and then press stop, an Auto Marker is added to mark this last recorded segment. Auto Markers have a circle icon on the Marker List. Each segment is called  a <span class=\"quote\">\u201c<span class=\"quote\">take<\/span>\u201d<\/span>, and takes are numbered. <\/p>\n<p>By default, 0.5 seconds of silence are added after each take. To add a new Range Marker, <a class=\"link\" href=\"\/en\/documentation\/program-reference\/ui-contents\/selection\/\" title=\"3.1.3.\u00a0Selection\">select a time period<\/a>, and then click on <span class=\"guimenu\">Markers<\/span> \u2192 <span class=\"guimenuitem\">Add marker<\/span>. Range Markers have a rectangular icon on the Marker List.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"section\">\n<div class=\"titlepage\">\n<div>\n<div>\n<h4 class=\"title\">\n<a name=\"id-1.6.3.10.6.5\"><\/a><span class=\"inlinemediaobject\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/images\/en\/markers\/PointMarkerIcon.png\"><\/span> Point Markers<\/h4>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>A Point Marker marks a point in time. To add a new point marker, click somewhere on the Timeline or the Spectrogram to position the Time Cursor and reset the selection. Then click on  <span class=\"guimenu\">Markers<\/span> \u2192 <span class=\"guimenuitem\">Add marker<\/span>. Point Markers have the triangle icon. They can also have the <span class=\"quote\">\u201c<span class=\"quote\">Thumb up<\/span>\u201d<\/span> or <span class=\"quote\">\u201c<span class=\"quote\">Thumb down<\/span>\u201d<\/span> icon. You can also use the <span class=\"guimenuitem\">Q<\/span> and <span class=\"guimenuitem\">W<\/span> keys for this. When you press <span class=\"guimenuitem\">Shift-Q<\/span> or <span class=\"guimenuitem\">Shift-W<\/span>, you will jump to the previous or next marker and zoom to it, so that the entire time range of the marker is visible and selected.<\/p>\n<p>You can click on a marker on the Marker List to jump to it, or double-click on it to select its time range and zoom to it.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"section\">\n<div class=\"titlepage\">\n<div>\n<div>\n<h3 class=\"title\">\n<a name=\"id-1.6.3.10.8\"><\/a>Editing Markers<\/h3>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"figure\">\n<a name=\"fig_ui_marker_edit\"><\/a><\/p>\n<div class=\"figure-contents\">\n<div class=\"mediaobject\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/images\/en\/markers\/MarkerEdit-en.png\" alt=\"Editing Markers in the File \/ Marker List\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"title\"><b>Figure\u00a03.23.\u00a0Editing Markers in the File \/ Marker List<\/b><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><br class=\"figure-break\"><\/p>\n<p>You can edit the text and color of a marker in the lower half of the <span class=\"quote\">\u201c<span class=\"quote\">File \/ Marker List<\/span>\u201d<\/span> window . If this window is not visible, you can bring it up by clicking on <span class=\"guimenu\">Markers<\/span> \u2192 <span class=\"guimenuitem\">Show File \/ Marker List<\/span>. <\/p>\n<p>To change the time range of a marker, simply move it with the mouse on the Timeline. You can also click and drag the edges of a Range Marker to change its start or end time.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"section\">\n<div class=\"titlepage\">\n<div>\n<div>\n<h3 class=\"title\">\n<a name=\"main_ui_markers_visibility\"><\/a>Setting Marker Visibility<\/h3>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>You can toggle the visibility of individual marker types with the <span class=\"guimenuitem\">Show markers<\/span> and <span class=\"guimenuitem\">Hide markers<\/span> commands in the <span class=\"guimenu\">Markers<\/span> menu.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"section\">\n<div class=\"titlepage\">\n<div>\n<div>\n<h3 class=\"title\">\n<a name=\"id-1.6.3.10.10\"><\/a>Searching Markers and Files<\/h3>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>The search box at the top right corner of the <span class=\"quote\">\u201c<span class=\"quote\">File \/ Marker List<\/span>\u201d<\/span> window allows you to search for file names and for marker texts that contain specific words. <\/p>\n<p>At the bottom of the window are three buttons that allow you to switch the scope of the search between searching all files, or just those that are currently loaded.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"section\">\n<div class=\"titlepage\">\n<div>\n<div>\n<h3 class=\"title\">\n<a name=\"id-1.6.3.10.11\"><\/a>Recent file history<\/h3>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>When no search term is entered, the File \/ Marker List shows a list of the most recently opened files in reverse order (so that the last file you opened comes first).
