Video Recording Settings

This page, the Video tab of the Recording Settings, chooses the camera that records video together with the audio, and sets how its picture is oriented and where the video view appears. Video recording is available in VoceVista Video and VoceVista Pro.

The preview at the top of the page shows the selected camera live, with the rotation and mirroring set below: it shows what the next recording will look like.

Recording

Record video

When checked, every recording also records video from the selected camera. This is the same switch as Tools  Record Video.

Video Input Device

The camera to record from. The list follows the cameras connected to the computer, so a camera plugged in while the page is open appears in it.

Settings…

Adjusts the camera itself, such as focus, zoom, brightness, contrast or white balance, whichever the camera offers. On Windows this opens the camera driver’s own settings window if it has one, and the Camera Settings dialog otherwise. On macOS it always opens the Camera Settings dialog. Changes take effect at once and show in the preview.

Resolution

The picture size the camera records at. The list shows the formats the selected camera offers, each with its frame rate.

Defaults for New Recordings

These two settings apply to the recordings you make from now on, and to the preview. A video that is already open keeps its own orientation: to change it, right-click the video view and use Rotate Left, Rotate Right, Angle, Mirror Image or Reset Orientation.

Rotation

Turns the camera’s picture by the given angle, in degrees, for example for a camera mounted sideways.

Mirror camera image

Shows the camera picture flipped horizontally, like a mirror. This lets you watch your own mouth, jaw and posture while you sing, the way video calls show you. Only the display is mirrored: the recorded file always keeps the true image, so you can turn this off again at any time.

View Placement

Where the video view appears in the main window. Each choice shows a small picture of the layout:

  • Floating overlay (top-right), the default

  • Right column

  • Full-width band on top

  • Above spectrum, right of waveform

  • Right of the timeline

  • Maximized (video only)

The change takes effect at once. The video view’s context menu offers the same choices under Video placement.
